About Sugar Hill

Sugar Hill is located in Grafton County, New Hampshire. It is a small city, with spectacular mountain views from every room. The first settlers came in Sugar Hill in 1789, but the city was incorporated in 1962 in New Hampshire. In 1929 the Austrian Sig Buchmayer opened in Sugar Hill the first ski-school in the United States and Canon Mountain made for skiing' s first aerial tramway.

The name of Sugar Hill was given to the city because of a large grove of sugar maples in the hills.
Sugar Hill is a tourist resort because of its panoramic views from the Sunset Hill Ridge or the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Although Sugar Hill is remote and relatively untouched by usual tourists, the city has the flavor and the appearance of 19th century.

Tourists who want action can enjoy the amazing sights and activities in Franconia Notch State Park, located in the heart of the popular White Mountain National Forest. For the nostalgic, there are few better places for fall foliage viewing than from Sunset Hill. In winter, skiing is very popular in Sugar Hill in the challenges of Cannon Mountain. In spring and summer fishing, golf, croquet and hiking can be practiced around Sugar Hill. The tourists can also visit The Frost Place, the Sugar Hill Historical Museum and the Sugar Hill Sampler.

Sugar Hill still has the beauty and the tranquility of the old New England.
